Smartwell Tech Corp Board Changes Announced

Smartwell Technology Corp. has made significant changes to its board of directors, effective September 14 and 12, 2026. The company announced that David Toyoda and Ian Mallman have resigned from their positions on the board. Toyoda's departure comes on September 14, while Mallman stepped down on September 12.

In response to these changes, the company has appointed Tony Chan, the President of Smartwell, to fill Toyoda's seat on the board. Chan brings extensive experience in the financial markets, having served as a principal of a brokerage firm and a private equity company. He has also held directorships on several public companies and has chaired one.

To replace Ian Mallman, Smartwell has appointed Ge Zijian, an independent director. Ge holds a Bachelor of Pharmacy from China Pharmaceutical University and a Master of Laws from Tsinghua University. He is a Chinese Certified Accountant (CPA) and a licensed PRC lawyer, and he also holds the banking practitioner qualification. Previously, Ge served as the Deputy Director of Haidian District Investment Promotion Bureau and is currently the Branch Manager of Hangzhou Bank’s Beijing branch.

Additionally, He Yang, the Chief Executive Officer of Smartwell, has been appointed as the new Chairman of the Company's Board of Directors. The audit committee will now consist of Chris Twell (Chair), Dr. Paul Arnison, and Ge Zijian.

These changes are expected to further strengthen the expertise of Smartwell's board of directors, enhance corporate governance, and support the company's future business growth, capital markets objectives, and strategic initiatives.
