G6 Hospitality, the parent company of the Motel 6 and Studio 6 brands, has expanded its presence in the extended-stay market with the introduction of Studio 6 Plus in the Northeast. The company has entered into a five-hotel new-construction agreement with Kautilya Group, marking Studio 6 Plus’s debut in the region and further accelerating its national growth.

The first two hotels under this agreement are set to open in the Hartford, Connecticut market. Both properties are currently in the planning and development phase, with construction scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2027. The agreement brings the brand’s development pipeline to 25 properties, including the five hotels planned with Kautilya Group.

Each Studio 6 Plus hotel is designed with 118 guestrooms, including king rooms, double queens, and suites, within a four-story, interior-corridor design. The properties are equipped with full-kitchen guestrooms, thoughtful storage, and functional living spaces, complemented by an efficient lobby and arrival experience. Digital check-in technology is central to the guest experience, allowing routine transactions to be handled through technology while the hotel’s Ambassador focuses on the guest.

Kautilya Group, led by Gary Patel and Vinita Patel, has a long-standing presence in the Northeast, having begun its hospitality story in 2000 with the acquisition of a small hotel in Virginia. The company expanded into Connecticut in 2005 with its second hotel, establishing a strong foundation in the region. Today, Kautilya Group owns, develops, and manages a growing hotel portfolio across the Northeast and Midwest.

Gary Patel, Chairman and CEO of Kautilya Group, expressed enthusiasm about the Studio 6 Plus brand, stating, “We’ve been looking very closely at the extended-stay space, and what attracted us to Studio 6 Plus is that the brand has been designed with the owner’s economics in mind from the beginning. This is a purpose-built new-construction product with an efficient design, a lean operating model, and a strong focus on durability and long-term profitability.”

The Studio 6 Plus brand was introduced by G6 Hospitality in April 2026 as a new extended-stay brand designed around the needs of travelers seeking the flexibility and comfort of a longer stay. Since its launch, the brand has quickly gained development momentum, with G6 Hospitality’s May agreement with Natson Hotel Group to develop 18 Studio 6 Plus properties across key U.S. growth markets. The brand’s pipeline now includes 25 hotels, including the five properties planned with Kautilya Group.

Ankit Tandon, Vice Chairman of G6 Hospitality, commented, “Studio 6 Plus is an important part of our strategy to expand our presence in the midscale and extended-stay segments through disciplined development and strong franchise partnerships. By combining an efficient prototype, durable product, and technology-enabled operations, we can simplify hotel operations while still delivering a strong guest experience.”

G6 Hospitality, based in Plano, Texas, is the leading economy lodging franchisor, with nearly 1,500 economy lodging locations under the iconic Motel 6 brand and the Studio 6 Extended Stay brand in the United States and Canada. Both Motel 6 and Studio 6 were recognized in the 2024 Entrepreneur Franchise 500 report, with Motel 6 ranking in the top 50 of all franchises.
