The 2026 East Coast Open, presented by Audi, concluded successfully at the Greenwich Polo Club in Greenwich, Connecticut. This high-goal tournament, held from August 30 to September 13, brought together elite international players and horses, making it one of the most prestigious summer championships in American polo.
This year marked a significant milestone for U.S. Polo Assn., as it served as the official apparel brand sponsor of the Greenwich Polo Club for the first time. The partnership between the world-renowned sports brand and the historic polo venue aims to elevate the experience for players and fans while celebrating the traditions and future of polo.
The 2026 East Coast Open, which first took place in 1978, has since become a defining title for players competing at the highest levels of the game. The tournament, often referred to as the only high-goal polo tournament on the East Coast during the summer season, drew top international talent to Greenwich.
In the final match, IGEA emerged victorious over FlyHouse, defeating them 10-9. Raul ‘Gringo' Colombres, a highly accomplished player, secured the championship with the golden goal. Cristian ‘Magoo' Laprida was named the Most Valuable Player for his outstanding performance.
The tournament also featured the Best Playing Argentine Pony, awarded to Acer Comandada, played by Francisco Elizalde of FlyHouse, and the Best Playing Pony, given to Taita Nikita, played by Raul ‘Gringo' Colombres of IGEA.
U.S. Polo Assn. enhanced the guest experience through various on-site activations. During the final, fans enjoyed the signature cocktail, The Divot Stomp™, and participated in a halftime divot stomp giveaway, celebrating America's 250th anniversary with commemorative red, white, and blue-branded hats.
The brand also made charitable donations on behalf of the tournament finalists to Rising Starr Horse Rescue and Old Friends Equine Rescue, reflecting its ongoing support for the polo community.
Peter M. Brant, founder of Greenwich Polo Club and member of the Polo Hall of Fame, expressed his excitement about the partnership. "Partnering with U.S. Polo Assn. this season has brought forth a new level of energy and participation," he said. "The brand's authentic connection to polo and its commitment to supporting the sport make U.S. Polo Assn. a natural partner for this historic championship."
Tim Kelly, Chairman of the United States Polo Association, echoed Brant's sentiments. "The East Coast Open is one of the most prestigious championships in American polo, bringing together outstanding players, exceptional horses, and a passionate polo community. The support of U.S. Polo Assn. through this new partnership helps elevate the experience for players and fans while celebrating the traditions and future of polo."
U.S. Polo Assn. remains committed to advancing the sport of polo while creating meaningful experiences that celebrate the sport's heritage, lifestyle, and future.
