BEIJING, Oct. 23, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Two VIGGO SC50 autonomous cleaning robots have logged more than 20,000 operating hours at CapitaMall Taiyanggong, a seven-level shopping mall in Beijing's Chaoyang District that welcomes over 30,000 visitors a day. Deployed nearly two years ago, the robots have become an integral part of the mall's regular housekeeping operations, automating routine dust mopping while staff focus on detailed cleaning and immediate service needs.

These two units have completed nearly 4,000 cleaning tasks, covering a cumulative 13.28 million square meters, equivalent to approximately 1,860 standard football pitches. The mall, with a gross floor area of approximately 80,000 square meters, faces heavy foot traffic that creates recurring cleaning demands, from dust and grit carried through entrances to hair and small debris around retail areas. Promotional displays, storefront fixtures, and the constant flow of shoppers add further complexity to cleaning during business hours.

The SC50 robots operate on the mall's first and second floors, starting at 7 a.m. before shoppers arrive. Each works for more than 12 hours daily, autonomously docking to recharge before resuming their routes. Repeated dust-mopping passes help limit the buildup of dust and light debris throughout the day. The robots detect and avoid pedestrians, allowing cleaning to continue during opening hours. No robot-related safety incidents have been reported during the deployment.

For the mall's housekeeping team of more than 30 people, the deployment has also enabled a clearer division of work. The two robots offset a workload equivalent to four full-time cleaning positions. Staff can devote more time to entrance carpets, narrow spaces beside storefronts and escalator areas, while responding promptly to spills in dining areas and requests from shoppers. This arrangement reduces the physical demands of repeatedly cleaning large public areas and gives the team more flexibility during weekends and holidays, when foot traffic intensifies. Routine floor maintenance continues alongside tasks that require staff attention.

Cleaning data and task histories also give managers a record of completed work, supporting checks on cleaning frequency and task tracking. At CapitaMall Taiyanggong, the deployment demonstrates how autonomous cleaning can seamlessly integrate into established retail operations: sustained daily coverage, more flexible staff allocation, and documented performance over nearly two years of use.
