NEW YORK, Oct. 27, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Splice, the music creation platform, has released a new signature instrument, John Legend: Electric Piano, in collaboration with the Grammy, Emmy, Oscar, and Tony-winning artist John Legend. This instrument, available exclusively through Splice INSTRUMENT, allows musicians to access the distinctive vintage electric piano sound Legend uses in his home studio.
The new instrument follows the success of Legend's first collaboration with Splice, which provided musicians with the piano sound behind his hit song "Ordinary People." That instrument has since been played by tens of thousands of pianists around the world on Splice. Now, Legend and Splice are expanding the partnership, capturing a warmer, soulful electric sound that has been central to Legend's musical life for decades.
Legend's relationship with the electric piano dates back to the earliest days of his career, when he would haul a more than 100-pound instrument in the back of his car on the way to gigs. "It was heavy, man," Legend recalls.
The new instrument is meticulously sampled from Legend's own vintage electric piano at his Los Angeles home studio. It captures the warm, soulful sound that has been central to Legend's musical life for decades.
The release of John Legend: Electric Piano is part of Splice's growing collection of Artist Signature instruments, which bring distinctive sounds from leading artists and creators directly to musicians through Splice INSTRUMENT. Each instrument is carefully recorded and sampled to preserve the character of the original instrument while giving musicians the flexibility to make something entirely their own.
The new instrument is now available exclusively through Splice INSTRUMENT, allowing musicians to bring the vintage electric piano sound directly into their own creative process. This release marks the latest chapter in Splice's growing collection of Artist Signature instruments, which includes storied composer Philip Glass and drummer Abe Laboriel. Each instrument is carefully recorded and sampled to preserve the character of the original instrument while giving musicians the flexibility to make something entirely their own.
