Saint Joseph’s Medical Center has been awarded a $19.6 million grant from the New York State Department of Health, which will be used to implement an integrated electronic health record system. This investment is part of the state’s broader initiative, the Statewide Health Care Facility Transformation Program IV, which is providing nearly $300 million in new state funding to support more than 50 projects aimed at expanding access to inpatient, primary, behavioral health, and long-term care services in underserved populations.

The grant, announced by Michael J. Spicer, President and CEO of Saint Joseph’s Medical Center, at a press conference held today, will enhance the hospital’s ability to provide safer, more efficient care. An integrated electronic health record system will ensure that a patient’s full medical history follows them throughout their care journey, from the Emergency Department to the operating room and their family doctor’s office. This will mean safer care, fewer repeated tests, and faster decisions.

The grant will support the hospital’s ongoing commitment to improving the health and well-being of the community.

The press conference, held at the hospital, was attended by several key officials, including State Health Commissioner Dr. James McDonald, Yonkers Mayor Mike Spano, New York State Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins, Westchester County Executive Ken Jenkins, and Saint Joseph’s Medical Center Board of Trustees Chairman James Landy.

Saint Joseph’s Medical Center, established in 1888, has served Yonkers and the surrounding communities of Westchester and New York City with patient-centered, quality-focused inpatient and outpatient care. The hospital offers specialized programs such as orthopedics, cardiology, family medicine, and geriatrics, as well as advanced emergency treatment, state-of-the-art diagnostic imaging, and ambulatory surgery. Its Saint Vincent’s Hospital Westchester division in Harrison provides comprehensive mental health, addiction, and residential programs serving Westchester and New York City.
