Acclaimed alt-folk-pop band Rachael Sage & The Sequins have released an impactful single titled "Underneath (Acoustic)" ahead of their forthcoming album, "Under My Canopy," set for release on October 9, 2026. The single, produced by Sage with Grammy® nominee Mikhail Pivovarov, features Cassandra Kubinski, an award-winning singer-songwriter known for her work with 10,000 Maniacs and her contributions to the TV show "Dance Moms."

"Underneath (Acoustic)" is a haunting response to the issue of mass shootings in America, bringing renewed attention to the urgent need for gun control. The song, which is a collaboration between Sage and Kubinski, highlights Sage’s ongoing commitment to raising awareness and supporting organizations like Everytown, Sandy Hook Promise, and Artists For Action.

The single is part of Sage’s broader mission to bring the human side of the gun control issue to the mainstream spotlight. Sage, who has shared stages with artists such as Rufus Wainwright, Ani DiFranco, and Judy Collins, has been recognized as a six-time Independent Music Award-winning musician and producer. She is also a John Lennon Contest Grand Prize winner and has performed at the Edinburgh Fringe and SXSW, touring globally with her band, The Sequins.

The new album, which is set to be released via her NYC-based label MPress Records, features fresh acoustic instrumentation and imaginative new arrangements. Sage and her band continue their ongoing journey of storytelling and emotional connection, confidently spanning the genres of Americana, pop, and neo-folk. The album is described as a refuge, woven from resilience, longing, and the irrepressible determination to find light in the darkest places.

Rachael Sage & The Sequins’ "Under My Canopy" is expected to be a soulful and thought-provoking work, offering listeners a beautifully crafted, deeply heartfelt assortment of songs that find common ground in themes of living a purposeful and joyful life rooted in inclusiveness, equality, and non-violence. The album is a reflection of Sage’s ongoing advocacy for causes such as Foundation For Women’s Cancer, WHY Hunger, American Refugee Committee, National Network For Youth (NN4Y), Rainbow Mind, and The Trevor Project.
