HOUSTON, Quanex Building Products Corporation (NYSE:NX) announced its third-quarter 2026 financial results today, revealing steady sales growth and progress in managing working capital, which allowed the company to repay a significant portion of its debt.

For the three months ending July 31, 2026, Quanex reported net sales of $501.8 million, up 1.3% from $495.3 million in the same period of the previous year. The Hardware Solutions segment saw a 2.7% decline in net sales, primarily due to lower volumes and IEEPA tariff reimbursements to customers. In contrast, the Extruded Solutions segment reported a 2.8% increase in net sales, driven by favorable pricing impacts. The Custom Solutions segment showed a 8.5% increase in net sales, largely attributed to higher volumes and improved pricing.

George Wilson, Chairman, President, and CEO of Quanex, commented, "Volumes continued to follow the usual seasonal patterns during the third quarter, and we made significant progress in addressing the price versus cost imbalance that affected our margins in the second quarter. While inflationary pressures due to macroeconomic concerns and the ongoing conflict in the Middle East persist, their impact has somewhat moderated."

The company also made strides in its working capital management, which, along with the seasonal uptick in sales, enabled Quanex to repay $42.25 million in debt and repurchase some of its shares. Wilson added, "We will continue to focus on repaying debt and opportunistically repurchasing shares in the fourth quarter, while identifying operational efficiencies and commercial synergies that will benefit us as consumer confidence and demand improve."

Financial highlights for the quarter included an increase in net sales and a rise in earnings, primarily due to improved pricing, lower depreciation and amortization expenses, and lower interest costs. Quanex's leverage ratio of net debt to trailing twelve-month adjusted EBITDA stood at 2.8x, with the company maintaining a liquidity position of $363.1 million as of July 31, 2026.

Throughout 2021, Quanex's Board authorized a $75 million share repurchase program, which the company has been executing. During the third quarter, Quanex repurchased 99,786 shares for approximately $1.7 million, bringing the remaining authorization to approximately $28.7 million.

Looking ahead, Quanex remains committed to leveraging its material science expertise and process engineering to expand into new markets. The company will host a conference call on September 4, 2026, to discuss the financial results in more detail.
