Transamerica has bolstered its leadership in retirement distribution with the appointment of Kevin Murphy and the promotion of Danny Kling, as the company aims to capitalize on its strong momentum and advance into its next growth phase.
Murphy, a seasoned industry veteran with over two decades of experience in financial services, has joined Transamerica in the role of National Sales Manager for the Large Market. Meanwhile, Danny Kling, a key player in driving sales and advisor engagement within Transamerica’s retirement business, has been promoted to National Sales Manager for the Mid Market. Both will now report to Darren Zino, Head of Retirement Distribution.
These strategic moves come as Transamerica continues to expand its retirement business, which currently manages assets worth over $253 billion. The company has experienced robust sales growth, particularly in pooled plans, and increasing demand for individual retirement accounts (IRAs) and stable value products. This growth underscores Transamerica’s dedication to helping employers and individuals achieve better retirement outcomes through innovative solutions and superior service.
Speaking on the appointments, Darren Zino emphasized, "Transamerica is building on significant momentum. We're seeing strong growth across our retirement business, and we're investing in the people who can help us keep raising the bar. Danny and Kevin are accomplished leaders with deep industry experience, and their appointments reflect our commitment to investing in the talent and leadership needed to support clients and drive our business forward."
Kevin Murphy brings a wealth of experience to his new role, having previously held senior leadership positions at Broadridge, Franklin Templeton, and other firms. In his new capacity, he will lead the Large Market Distribution team and oversee growth strategies, strategic partnerships, and market expansion efforts.
Danny Kling, who most recently served as Divisional Sales Manager, has established a reputation for talent development, coaching high-performing teams, and delivering strong results. He succeeds Brian Walker, who will retire in October after a distinguished career and years of leadership within Transamerica’s retirement business.
Transamerica's commitment to customer support is evident in its long-standing mission to help everyday Americans thrive. The company has a history of fulfilling its promises, paying out over $52.6 billion in insurance, retirement, and annuity claims and benefits in 2025, including the return of customer-paid annuity premiums.
As Transamerica continues to grow and innovate, the appointments of Murphy and the promotion of Kling are expected to play a pivotal role in driving the company's future success and expanding access to retirement solutions for more Americans.
