SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 21, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Pestec, the company behind the Effective Urban Rodent Ecology Knowledge Alliance (EUREKA), has launched the Rodent Log app on Android, following its successful iOS release. This move comes as forecasters predict a strong El Niño this winter, which could significantly impact rodent activity. The app, funded by the California Department of Pesticide Regulation (DPR), aims to standardize data collection among pest management professionals (PMPs) and provide a shared dataset for researchers, public health agencies, and industry stakeholders.
Rodent Log, now available on both Android and iOS, allows PMPs to log, map, and share rodent activity during routine service visits. Each entry adheres to EUREKA's data collection standard, contributing to an open data repository that can be utilized by various sectors. An instructional video is available in the EUREKA knowledge base to guide users on how to effectively use the app.
The launch of Rodent Log on Android is part of a broader initiative to gather consistent and reliable data on rodent activity. EUREKA partner Rat Sense USA will incorporate Rodent Log's data collection standards into its platform, further expanding the reach and impact of the alliance's efforts.
Agurto also highlighted the potential impact of a strong El Niño on rodent populations.
The app's launch is timely, coming ahead of PestWorld 2026, where the EUREKA team will be exhibiting with alliance partners Rat Sense USA. The event is scheduled for October 20-23 at the Gaylord Texan Resort & Convention Center in Grapevine, Texas. Attendees will have the opportunity to try out Rodent Log on both Android and iOS, learn about the EUREKA data standard, and discover how their company can contribute data to the initiative.
EUREKA, running through June 2027, brings together industry, rodent scientists, public health professionals, and community stakeholders to advance ecologically-based rodent management in California. The alliance is building data collection standards, digital tools, an open data repository, and an IoT sensor network to validate alternatives to rodenticides. By contributing data, pest management professionals can help fill gaps in scientific knowledge and support smarter policy decisions.
The launch of Rodent Log on Android is a significant step in standardizing data collection and sharing among pest management professionals. By providing a consistent and reliable data collection platform, the app aims to support research, public health, and industry efforts in managing rodent populations effectively.
