Octane AI Launches Phoenix to Automate Quiz Building for Shopify Brands

Octane AI, a company that helps Shopify DTC brands turn every visit into a personalized shopping experience with AI-built quizzes, has launched a new product called Phoenix. This AI quiz builder is designed to create, check, and improve quizzes for Shopify brands, addressing the challenges merchants face in building and maintaining effective quizzes.

Phoenix automates the quiz-building process, allowing merchants to input a prompt or a document and have the AI generate a complete quiz. The tool also checks for logical errors and ensures that every path is functional, preventing dead ends and recommending products that are still in stock. Additionally, Phoenix provides personalized results pages that explain to shoppers why each product is a good match based on their answers.

One beta customer reported that they were able to transform a single document into a complete product-launch quiz using Phoenix.

Across all live Octane AI quizzes, 15% of shoppers who complete a quiz place an order. This high conversion rate underscores the effectiveness of the company's AI-built quizzes. However, building a quiz has traditionally been a time-consuming process, involving hours of writing rules by hand, custom coding for design, and manually checking every path for errors. Phoenix streamlines this process, handling the hard parts from quiz creation to post-launch improvements.

Since its inception, Octane AI has been listening to feedback from its merchants to identify areas for improvement. Phoenix is the result of this ongoing process, and the company continues to refine it based on user input.

Key capabilities of Phoenix include AI quiz building, automatic quiz checks, personalized results, image generation and analysis, formulas, design with prompts, Shopify revenue analytics, and AI-run experiments. Merchants can manage quizzes and query data from AI assistants such as Claude, ChatGPT, Codex, and Cursor, or connect quiz data to their own systems through webhooks and a scoped API.

Every quiz answer is saved to a shopper profile as zero-party data that the brand owns. Phoenix integrates with the tools merchants already use, including Klaviyo, Attentive, Postscript, Recart, Google Analytics, Meta Ads, Gorgias, Tapcart, Shopify Flow, Recharge, Stay AI, Skio, Loop, and Smartrr.

Octane AI quizzes have driven more than $1.4 billion in revenue and over 15 million orders from over 190 million quiz starts. Merchants using Octane AI quizzes see up to a 62% lift in average order value and an average 29% email opt-in rate. The company's new product, Phoenix, is now available to Shopify merchants through the Octane AI app on the Shopify App Store. Existing customers can easily migrate from their current account, and agencies and technology partners are invited to join the Octane AI partner program.
