Houston will honor Dr. Mathew Knowles, a global music icon and male breast cancer survivor, with a special proclamation on October 25, 2026. The event, part of the Strength, Survival & Sisterhood: Breast Cancer & Domestic Violence Awareness Brunch, will take place at The Junior League of Houston, located at 1811 Briar Oaks Ln, Houston, TX 77027, from 11:00 AM to 2:00 PM.
Dr. Knowles, the Founder, Chairman, and CEO of Music World Entertainment Corporation, has transformed an initial $1,000 investment into a multimillion-dollar entertainment enterprise. His leadership has helped shape the careers of renowned artists such as Destiny’s Child, Beyoncé, and Solange, contributing to over 500 million records sold and 28 Grammy Awards. Additionally, his business has generated over $300 million in concert touring revenue.
Beyond his professional achievements, Dr. Knowles has been a vocal advocate for breast cancer awareness. In 2019, he publicly revealed his diagnosis of male breast cancer, bringing attention to a disease often perceived as affecting only women. Following his diagnosis, he discovered a BRCA2 genetic mutation and became a passionate advocate for genetic testing, family health history, and early detection. His willingness to share his personal experience has challenged misconceptions and encouraged important conversations about men's health and hereditary cancer risks.
The City of Houston proclamation, presented by the Houston City Council, acknowledges Dr. Knowles' extraordinary accomplishments as a business leader, cultural influencer, educator, and humanitarian. The recognition is especially meaningful as Houston celebrates Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Domestic Violence Awareness Month. The event will bring together distinguished community leaders, elected officials, advocates, breast cancer and domestic violence survivors, and other honorees.
Dr. Sonia R. White, Founder and Chief Editor of Winners of the World Global Magazine, will host the event.
The event marks a significant moment in Houston's calendar, celebrating an individual whose influence extends far beyond the entertainment industry. Dr. Knowles' journey from a $1,000 investment to a multimillion-dollar enterprise, and his role as a breast cancer advocate, highlights the power of personal stories in driving social change.
