ZURICH-SCHLIEREN, Switzerland and CONCORD, Mass., Oct. 29, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Molecular Partners AG, a clinical-stage biotech company developing a novel class of medicines known as DARPin therapeutics, has announced its third-quarter 2026 financial results and a strategic shift towards targeted radiotherapy. The company is focusing on its lead Radio-DARPin candidate, MP0712, which is being co-developed with Orano Med for the treatment of small cell lung cancer (SCLC) and other neuroendocrine cancers.

The U.S. multicenter Phase 1/2a study of MP0712, designated NCT07278479, is progressing well. Dosing is ongoing in the fully recruited dose level 2, with 105 MBq per dose, and eight out of nine planned sites are open. All patients in dose level 1, which uses 75 MBq per dose, have passed the safety observation period without any dose-limiting events. Initial safety data from the study will be presented at the IASLC / ASCO North America Conference on Lung Cancer in December 2026. Efficacy data are expected in 2027.

Molecular Partners is also advancing other Radio-DARPin programs. The company's DLL3-targeting RDT program, MP0714, is being used in an early-access clinical program in South Africa, where it is imaging and treating patients with 177Lu and 225Ac labeling. Additionally, the MSLN-targeting RDT program, MP0726, is moving towards first-in-human imaging in the second half of 2026. Molecular Partners has nominated MP0730, a CD70-targeting RDT, as the third asset in its growing pipeline. Initial data from MP0730 in tumor-bearing mice showed strong and sustained tumor uptake relative to healthy tissues.

The company is also developing next-generation multispecific Radio-DARPins designed to engage multiple tumor targets simultaneously, showcasing their potential in improving precision and therapeutic efficacy for highly heterogeneous cancers.

In terms of organizational restructuring, Molecular Partners plans to streamline its capabilities and resources to support the successful development of its Radio-DARPin programs in the clinic. The company intends to reduce its workforce by no more than 55 positions, representing a potential of up to 44% of its current workforce. The reduction is expected to be fully implemented by the second quarter of 2027, with cost savings becoming effective early in the second half of 2027.

As of September 30, 2026, Molecular Partners had a cash position of CHF 57.5 million (USD ~69 million), which the company expects to be sufficient to fund its operating expenses and capital expenditure requirements into late 2027. The financial impact of the restructuring is not yet estimable, but the company anticipates being able to provide an estimate as part of its full year 2026 results in early 2027.

Overall, Molecular Partners is positioning itself as a dedicated radiopharmaceuticals company, focusing on delivering value to shareholders and meaningful benefits to cancer patients through its innovative DARPin therapeutics.
