BOSTON, Sept. 1, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- John Hancock Investment Management has announced the declaration of quarterly distributions for two of its closed-end funds, effective September 1, 2026. The distributions will be paid out on September 30, 2026, with shareholders needing to be record holders on September 11, 2026.

The first fund, the John Hancock Diversified Income Fund, has announced a quarterly distribution of $0.2500 per share. This distribution is part of the fund's managed distribution plan (HEQ Plan), which is designed to provide consistent payouts. The HEQ Plan allows for distributions to be made from various sources, including net investment income, net realized capital gains, and, if necessary, return of capital. The fund's board retains the authority to amend or terminate the HEQ Plan at any time.

The second fund, the John Hancock Financial Opportunities Fund, has declared a higher quarterly distribution of $0.6500 per share. This distribution also falls under the fund's managed distribution plan (BTO Plan), which similarly aims to provide regular payouts. The BTO Plan seeks to fund distributions through the realization of long-term capital gains where possible, aligning with the fund's investment strategy. Like the HEQ Plan, the BTO Plan gives the fund's board the flexibility to amend or terminate the plan at any time.

Both funds aim to ensure they do not incur federal income tax or excise tax on their income and capital gains by making additional distributions as needed. Investors should note that a portion of the distribution may be a return of capital, which is not considered a distribution from income or gains.
