Carolinas Medical Group Management Association (MGMA) recently held its 2026 Fall Conference, bringing together healthcare leaders from across the Carolinas for two days of professional development and networking.

Among the highlights of the conference was the recognition of exceptional practices and leaders. OrthoSC, a physician-owned orthopedic practice in Myrtle Beach, SC, was awarded the 2026 Practice of the Year award. Jennifer Edelen, director of revenue at OrthoSC, accepted the award on behalf of the practice. OrthoSC has been a cornerstone in the community, providing substantial time and resources to various initiatives. The practice has opened new locations in areas of high need, extended services like orthopedic urgent care, and partnered with the HURT! App to offer free, 24/7 virtual access for patients.

In addition to the Practice of the Year award, the 2026 Administrator of the Year award was presented to Sheridan Robinson, practice director for Cornerstone Pediatric & Adolescent Medicine in Cary, NC. With over 20 years of experience in healthcare leadership, Robinson has demonstrated exceptional management proficiency and has helped enhance the effectiveness of healthcare delivery in the Carolinas.

As part of their recognition, both OrthoSC and Cornerstone Pediatric & Adolescent Medicine received monetary awards. OrthoSC was presented with a check for $3,000 to be given to their charity of choice, which they selected as the Grand Strand Miracle League, a nonprofit organization that provides children and adults with disabilities the opportunity to participate in sports in an inclusive, supportive environment. Sheridan Robinson was awarded a $3,000 education stipend, to be used towards Carolinas MGMA, MGMA, and/or ACMPE educational resources.

Carolinas MGMA, representing a growing community of over 750 members dedicated to excellence in medical practice management, fosters connection and professional growth through year-round education, leadership development, and statewide networking opportunities. The organization aims to support and empower healthcare professionals to achieve their goals and improve patient care.
