CHICAGO, Oct. 23, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Mission MSA, a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of those affected by multiple system atrophy (MSA), is hosting a groundbreaking virtual event on March 16, 2027. The event, an Externally Led Patient-Focused Drug Development (EL-PFDD) session, aims to gather firsthand experiences from patients and care partners to inform future treatments for MSA.

The virtual meeting, scheduled from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Eastern Standard Time, will bring together individuals living with MSA, their care partners, and community members. The event will feature a clinical overview of MSA, followed by two interactive panels focusing on daily life and treatment priorities. Participants will have the opportunity to contribute their experiences through live polling, a pre-meeting survey, and written or audio comments.

Mission MSA’s CEO, Joe Lindahl, emphasized the importance of patient and caregiver voices in the development of MSA therapies.

The session will also include live audience polling and open comments, ensuring that the voices of participants are heard and considered. Those unable to attend live can share their experiences through an online portal before the event and during a 30-day post-meeting window. Following the meeting, Mission MSA will prepare a Voice of the Patient (VOP) report summarizing the shared experiences. This report will be submitted to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and published on the Mission MSA website as a permanent, public record. FDA staff can reference the report when evaluating potential MSA therapies and advising drug sponsors on MSA development programs.

Mission MSA, founded to improve the quality of life for those affected by MSA, has been at the forefront of advocating for the needs of the MSA community. Through support, education, advocacy, and funding for research, Mission MSA continues to work toward a future without the disease. The organization’s efforts are aimed at bringing hope to the MSA community and ensuring that patient perspectives are central to the development of new treatments.
