Beavers Bend Marina's customer-named mascot, Bowdie, made a splash during his first summer and is set to return for the 2027 season. The idea for Bowdie came from Stephen Lehn, CEO of TopSide Marinas, which owns and operates Beavers Bend Marina. Lehn wanted to create something special for families visiting the marina, particularly for children, to make their lake days more memorable.
The process of creating Bowdie was a collaborative effort. TopSide Marinas worked with Street Characters to design a mascot that would fit the marina's theme. Several rounds of renderings were conducted to ensure the final design was friendly, goofy, and instantly recognizable on the water. The design team wanted Bowdie to be a character that would resonate with families and become a beloved part of the marina's offerings.
The naming process was a democratic one. Guests submitted name ideas, and the team narrowed them down to three finalists. The public then voted on the winner, and Bowdie emerged as the top choice with 350 votes.
Bowdie made numerous appearances throughout the summer, greeting families at the docks, joining photo ops, and becoming a regular stop for kids before they headed out on the water.
TopSide Marinas owns and operates 15 lake marinas across the United States, including Beavers Bend Marina. The company partners with longtime marina owners to keep what makes each property special while investing in docks, amenities, and guest experiences like Bowdie. The return of Bowdie for the 2027 season promises to continue the tradition of making lake days more enjoyable and memorable for families.

Families come back to Beavers Bend year after year, and a mascot felt like a fun way to give them one more memory to take home. The TopSide team researched mascot design companies before partnering with Street Characters. From there, it took several rounds of renderings to land on a character that felt like it belonged at the marina. "We went back and forth a lot," said Jenny LoBello, Marketing Director for TopSide Marinas.
