ASUR completes R$5.1 billion acquisition of Motiva's Brazilian airport assets

MEXICO CITY, Sept. 1, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Grupo Aeroportuario del Sureste, S.A.B. de C.V. (ASUR) has completed its acquisition of Motiva Infraestrutura de Mobilidade S.A.’s (Motiva) entire equity interest in Companhia de Participações em Concessões (CPC), a subsidiary owned by Motiva. The deal, which closed on December 15, 2025, for a purchase price of R$5.1 billion (approximately US$992.2 million), marks a significant step in ASUR’s growth strategy and expands the company’s portfolio in Latin America and the Caribbean.

ASUR has added 20 airports across Brazil, Ecuador, Costa Rica, and Curaçao to its operations. This transaction underscores ASUR’s commitment to expanding its presence in key aviation markets. The acquisition is particularly notable as Brazil, the largest aviation market in Latin America by passenger traffic, now has a larger player in the form of ASUR.

The transaction was financed through a loan facility arranged when ASUR submitted its offer to Motiva. The addition of these 20 airports brings ASUR’s total number of managed airports to 36, further solidifying its position as a leading international airport operator.

The portfolio now includes Brazil’s largest aviation market, where ASUR will manage airports that are crucial for regional connectivity. These acquisitions are expected to boost ASUR’s passenger traffic and operational efficiency, driving growth in the coming years.

ASUR, headquartered in Mexico, operates a diverse portfolio of 16 airports across the Americas, including nine in southeastern Mexico and six in northern Colombia. The company is also a 60% stakeholder in Aerostar Airport Holdings, LLC, operator of Luis Muñoz Marin International Airport in San Juan, Puerto Rico. ASUR has recently expanded into airport commercial services through ASUR US Airports, which partners with airports and airlines to deliver enhanced retail and passenger experiences.

Motiva Infraestrutura de Mobilidade S.A. is Brazil’s largest mobility infrastructure company, operating in the toll road, rail, and airport sectors. The company manages 37 assets in 13 Brazilian states and employs over 16,000 people. Motiva’s airport platform, comprising 17 airports in Brazil and three internationally, serves approximately 45 million passengers annually.
