GREENWICH, Conn., Sept. 03, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- XPO, a leading provider of freight transportation in North America, has reported preliminary LTL segment operating metrics for August 2026, showing a 3.7% increase in tonnage per day compared to the same month in 2025. The increase was driven by a 5.7% year-over-year rise in shipments per day, offset by a 1.8% decrease in weight per shipment.
According to the data, XPO's North American less-than-truckload (LTL) operations saw a positive performance in August 2026. The company, headquartered in Greenwich, Connecticut, serves 55,000 customers from 586 locations and employs 38,000 people in North America and Europe. XPO's proprietary technology enables efficient movement of 16 billion pounds of freight annually.
The company noted that the actual results for August 2026 may differ from the preliminary results reported. XPO's management will continue to monitor and manage the business to ensure it meets its strategic objectives.
Brian Scasserra, an investor contact at XPO, stated, "Our LTL operations continue to show strong performance, driven by increased shipment volumes. We remain committed to leveraging our technology and resources to optimize our network and enhance customer service."
Forward-looking statements in the release caution that actual results could differ materially due to various factors, including business, economic, political, and regulatory impacts; supply chain disruptions; and the effectiveness of management actions to improve the company's operations.
XPO's Chief Financial Officer, Cole Horton, added, "While we are encouraged by the current trends, we are mindful of the ongoing challenges and will work diligently to address them."
