ZURICH, SWITZERLAND, October 26, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Worldbox Business Intelligence has launched a new dataset aimed at providing compliance teams with crucial information about the companies behind virtual asset service providers (VASPs). This dataset, named the VASP Entity Dataset, complements existing blockchain analytics tools by offering registry-sourced records on the legal identity, ownership, and control of VASPs, which include crypto exchanges, custodians, wallet providers, and transfer services.

VASPs are subject to anti-money laundering standards set by the Financial Action Task Force (FATF). Banks and fintechs that interact with these entities need to identify the company behind each VASP. While blockchain analytics tools can trace wallets and transactions, they do not provide information on who owns or controls the company running a blockchain-based service. This information is held in company registries, filings, and corporate documents.

According to FATF's July 2026 update on virtual assets, jurisdictions still struggle to identify the natural and legal persons carrying out VASP activity, with offshore VASPs remaining a persistent challenge. Many of the jurisdictions with Travel Rule legislation, which requires VASPs to pass originator and beneficiary details along with transfers, have yet to take related supervisory or enforcement action. FATF also highlights the increasing complexity and interconnectedness of crypto-enabled illicit activities, including scam center operations linked to organized crime.

Worldbox has identified four key requirements in VASP counterparty due diligence that the new dataset aims to address: 1. The right legal entity: Ensuring that the entity named in the contract matches the one in the official registry and holds any relevant license. 2. Ownership and control: Providing information on the ultimate beneficial owners, directors, and parent structures, often spread across several jurisdictions, including offshore ones. 3. Documents: Offering certificates of incorporation, articles, and government registry extracts that can be verified by a compliance team. 4. Changes in records over time: Addressing the fact that ownership and status can shift after onboarding, necessitating regular updates.

The VASP Entity Dataset builds on Worldbox's existing database of more than 500 million entities across over 240 jurisdictions. This database is sourced directly from company registries and backed by original corporate documents, ensuring the accuracy and reliability of the information provided.

This new dataset is designed to help financial institutions and compliance teams navigate the complexities of VASP activity, ensuring they have the necessary information to meet regulatory requirements and mitigate risks associated with virtual asset transactions.
