West Texas Resources granted operator status by Railroad Commission of Texas
BRENHAM, Texas, West Texas Resources, Inc. (OTCID: WTXR) announced today that its wholly owned subsidiary, Texas Coastal Energy, has been granted operator status by the Railroad Commission of Texas. The approval, effective as of August 2026, allows Texas Coastal Energy to manage and operate oil and gas leases and existing wells in the state, marking a significant step in the company's strategy to become a fully integrated oil and gas enterprise.
"This is an important milestone for West Texas Resources," said Donald H. Goree, Chairman and CEO of the company. "With this operator approval, we can now manage and operate our properties through our own subsidiary, which will strengthen our operational foundation for future growth."
The Railroad Commission of Texas, the primary state regulator overseeing oil and gas activities, oversees the drilling, production, well operations, and field compliance. Texas Coastal Energy's operator status places it within this regulatory framework, providing the necessary compliance and operational structure for the company's expanding operations.
To support its growth, West Texas Resources expects to post a $50,000 blanket financial-assurance bond with the Railroad Commission of Texas in September 2026. This bond aligns with the commission's current financial-assurance requirements, which apply to operators with between 11 and 99 wells. The company aims to expand its well count within this category as it continues to acquire, reactivate, and develop additional properties.
Goree, who brings decades of experience to the company, said, "Decades of operating experience matter in the oil and gas industry. Our strategy is to combine that experience with a disciplined funding and acquisition approach as we expand the company."
West Texas Resources intends to leverage its operator status to manage and develop oil and gas properties directly. The company is evaluating opportunities involving producing properties, development-stage assets, and existing wells, aiming to rehabilitate and optimize these assets for increased production.
"We are building an integrated operating platform designed to manage and develop oil and gas properties directly," Goree continued. "Our objective is to combine real operating capability with a disciplined funding and development strategy."
In addition to its operator status, West Texas Resources has previously announced plans to expand its oil and gas activities through a combination of organic development and strategic acquisitions. The company remains focused on acquiring, reactivating, and developing properties that offer attractive opportunities for rehabilitation, optimization, and increased production.
