Volvo Trucks Wins International Truck of the Year 2027 Award

GOTHENBURG, Sweden, Sept. 15, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Volvo Trucks has been honored with the prestigious International Truck of the Year 2027 award for its full electric range, marking the company's eighth win and the second time the Volvo FH Electric has claimed the title. This recognition underscores the growing viability of electric transport in a wide array of applications, from regional and long-haul transport to city distribution and construction work.

The new electric range, which includes the Volvo FH, FM, FMX Electric, and FH Aero Electric, boasts a driving range of up to 700 kilometers, an improvement over previous models. The trucks are designed to handle demanding transport assignments, offering increased range, improved payload capacity, and reduced charging times. According to Florian Engel, Chairman of the International Truck of the Year, the jury was particularly impressed by Volvo's comprehensive approach to electric truck development, which includes a variety of cab and chassis configurations tailored to different transport needs.

Roger Alm, President of Volvo Trucks, expressed pride in the company's recognition and highlighted the strong demand for its new electric trucks.

Since 2019, nearly 7,000 electric Volvo trucks have driven over 500 million kilometers worldwide, serving more than 2,000 customers in over 50 countries. Volvo Trucks has a broad electric line-up with eight electric truck models, each designed to handle a wide variety of transport assignments. The company has built strong expertise in optimizing energy usage, charging, and service for electric trucks over seven years of electrification efforts.

The International Truck of the Year award is given annually to the truck introduced in the previous 12 months that has made the most significant contribution to road transport efficiency. The selection criteria include technological innovation, comfort, safety, drivability, energy efficiency, environmental impact, and total cost of ownership. Previous winners include the 2024 Volvo FH Electric, 2014 Volvo FH, 2000 Volvo FH Series, 1994 Volvo FH Series, 1986 Volvo FL Series, and 1984 Volvo F10.
