TIANDONG, a battery manufacturer based in Pingxiang, Jiangxi Province, China, has brought its continuous casting and rolling line online, integrating the production of lead-alloy strip materials for battery grids and electrode plates into a connected manufacturing process. This new line is part of the company's broader battery manufacturing system, which includes electrode plate production, battery assembly, charging, capacity testing, and final assembly.
According to TIANDONG's published manufacturing information, the new technology aims to improve material consistency, thickness control, production efficiency, and automated quality monitoring in lead-acid battery production. The integrated manufacturing process begins with metal melting and alloy preparation, where raw materials such as lead and alloying elements are melted under controlled conditions. The chemical composition is monitored before the material enters the casting stage. The molten metal is then continuously cast into a metal strip, which subsequently enters the rolling section where multiple precision rollers gradually control thickness and improve material uniformity.
TIANDONG states that modern continuous casting and rolling production equipment can incorporate automated inspection throughout the manufacturing process. Inspection items include thickness measurement, surface inspection, alloy composition analysis, and mechanical performance testing. These controls help maintain more consistent material characteristics during larger production runs. The continuous process can also reduce intermediate material handling between separate casting and rolling stages.
The new production line supports TIANDONG's existing manufacturing operations for motorcycle and other lead-acid battery applications. The company was established in 2007 and manufactures motorcycle batteries, providing battery solutions for electric vehicles, energy storage, solar applications, UPS systems, and related markets. The factory covers approximately 121,800 square meters and supports production from electrode plate manufacturing through finished battery assembly.
The continuous casting and rolling line represents part of TIANDONG's ongoing investment in manufacturing equipment and production control. By producing lead-alloy strip materials through an integrated casting and rolling process, the company aims to improve consistency at an upstream stage of battery manufacturing. The production line also supports TIANDONG's existing manufacturing operations for motorcycle and other lead-acid battery applications.
The global thin film micro battery market is expected to witness market growth at a rate of 30.9% in the forecast period of 2022 to 2029, according to Data Bridge Market Research. The market is driven by the increasing demand for the Internet of Things (IoT) and the need for smaller, more efficient energy storage solutions. Similarly, the global energy storage battery market, which includes lithium-ion and all-vanadium batteries, is forecasted to grow significantly over the same period.
In the lead acid UPS battery market, the research report from Market Research highlights the growth trends and market outlook for the years 2016 to 2017. The report analyzes the historical and present performance of the worldwide lead acid UPS battery industry and makes predictions on the future status of the market.
For motorcycle batteries in particular, grid construction must support starting performance, vibration resistance, electrical conductivity, and long-term durability. TIANDONG states that improved grid uniformity can contribute to more consistent electrical performance and structural stability. The company also provides OEM and ODM services for international B2B customers, allowing for customization of battery specifications, product branding, packaging, performance requirements, and other project-specific requirements.
The continuous casting and rolling line is part of TIANDONG's broader investment in manufacturing equipment and production control. The company aims to improve consistency at an upstream stage of battery manufacturing and support its existing operations for motorcycle and other lead-acid battery applications.
