STACK IQ Uses AI to Simplify Construction Preconstruction Tasks

STACK Construction Technologies has unveiled STACK IQ, a groundbreaking new feature that leverages conversational artificial intelligence (AI) to transform the way construction professionals handle preconstruction tasks. This new capability allows users to complete critical tasks such as takeoff, estimating, and project setup through simple, natural-language requests, eliminating the need to navigate complex software interfaces.

The introduction of STACK IQ marks a significant shift in how construction software is designed and used. Traditionally, software tools have required users to adapt to predefined workflows and menus. With STACK IQ, users can now describe their needs in plain language, and the AI-driven system will execute the tasks using real project data, streamlining the process and reducing the time required for repetitive tasks.

STACK IQ integrates directly with popular AI models like Claude and ChatGPT, enabling seamless communication between the user and the software. This integration allows for a more intuitive and efficient workflow, where users can direct their estimating and project management work through natural conversation.

Early examples of how STACK IQ can be used include building a complete takeoff library from a spreadsheet in seconds, auditing existing estimates to ensure completeness, generating client-ready proposals with automatic removal of internal markups and margins, and setting up new projects directly from emails. The system also connects to commonly used tools such as Outlook, Excel, and Monday.com, enhancing its versatility and utility.

Viyas Sundaram, CEO of STACK Construction Technologies, emphasized the significance of this innovation: "Construction software has always asked contractors to adapt to it. With STACK IQ, customers can now tell AI what they need in their own words, and the AI goes to work right inside of STACK. STACK IQ was developed based on feedback from customers who were looking for more control over repetitive and time-consuming tasks, such as building takeoff libraries and reformatting proposals. Ben Coffman, SVP of Product and Engineering at STACK, highlighted how this feature addresses a common challenge: "If a customer can describe what they need, STACK IQ can do it, using the data already in their account, without our team building a one-off feature for every request."

Early adopters are already seeing the benefits of STACK IQ. Adam Roark, Vice President of Estimating at Gulf Coast Pavers, noted: "STACK IQ has taken our estimating procedures to a whole new level. We're currently testing the use of Claude to create our master proposals, which is now possible through STACK IQ. I've been very impressed with both the STACK team and the technology."

Evan Borseti, a project manager at Turner Brothers, added: "STACK IQ has revamped our formatting and legibility of documents. With multiple projects being bid each week, consistency is key.
