Sonera, a leading compliance and deliverability platform, has expanded its offerings by acquiring two key industry players: Blacklist Alliance and Number Verifier. The acquisitions, announced on September 9, 2026, bring Sonera’s suite of services to a comprehensive suite that addresses both the risks before and the reputation after outbound calls.
Sonera, formed in July by the merger of DNC.com and Pure CallerID, has now integrated Blacklist Alliance, known for its litigation firewall, and Number Verifier, a caller reputation testing network. This move strengthens Sonera’s platform, offering clients a unified solution for compliance and caller identity verification.
Blacklist Alliance’s services will bolster Sonera’s existing capabilities by providing detailed litigation risk data, ensuring that calls are not placed to known litigators or numbers on the Do Not Call registry. Blacklist Alliance processes over 2 billion scrub requests monthly, enhancing Sonera’s ability to screen and manage risk.
Number Verifier, on the other hand, extends Sonera’s platform by verifying caller identities and ensuring that the numbers being used are legitimate and functional. The service operates a network of over 2,000 real phones, placing approximately 2 million test calls daily across major carriers. This integration allows Sonera to provide a complete solution for maintaining caller reputation and ensuring that every call is placed with confidence.
The acquisitions mark a significant step for Sonera, as the company now serves an average of 1.8 billion phone numbers per month, with more than 200 million caller identity and delivery transactions processed. With these new tools, Sonera can offer a more robust and integrated service, catering to the needs of regulated and outbound-intensive industries such as financial services, healthcare, and insurance.
Mark Mitchell, CEO of Sonera, stated, "Compliance is becoming the control layer of outbound engagement. Blacklist Alliance built the litigation firewall this industry checks against, and Number Verifier keeps legitimate numbers connecting. Bringing them onto the Sonera platform puts list risk, litigation risk, and caller reputation on one layer."
The integration of Blacklist Alliance and Number Verifier also signals Sonera’s commitment to innovation and growth. The company has already opened an office in downtown Austin, Texas, and plans to expand its team in the city. As Sonera continues to develop AI-led offerings, including pre-dial decision intelligence and real-time governance for agentic outreach, it aims to further solidify its position as a leader in compliance and deliverability.
With this strategic move, Sonera is well-positioned to meet the growing demands of its clients, providing them with a more comprehensive and reliable solution for managing outbound communications.
