PROVIDENCE, R.I., Oct. 10, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Simply Injectables RI, an aesthetic clinic in Providence's Wayland Square, has appointed Susan McKenna, a board-certified nurse practitioner, as both an aesthetic injector and the lead provider for its GLP-1 weight management program. With 13 years of experience in intensive care and hospital medicine, McKenna brings a wealth of knowledge to the clinic, having been involved in aesthetic work since 2019.
McKenna, who holds a Master of Science in Nursing and is an ANCC board-certified adult-gerontology acute care nurse practitioner, has spent the majority of her career in hospitals. She began her journey in nursing at Saint Joseph's School of Nursing, earned her bachelor's in nursing from New England Institute of Technology, and worked as an ICU nurse for seven years. After completing her Master of Science in Nursing at Rhode Island College, McKenna served as a hospitalist at Our Lady of Fatima Hospital in North Providence for six years. In 2019, she started doing aesthetics part-time and transitioned to full-time focus in 2025.
McKenna's approach to aesthetic medicine is rooted in her background in intensive care, where she learned the importance of small details.
In her role, McKenna oversees each GLP-1 (glucagon-like peptide-1) patient's plan, including lab reviews, medication choices, dose adjustments, and follow-up visits. Patients typically check in monthly, and the program pairs semaglutide or tirzepatide with guidance on nutrition, exercise, and daily habits.
McKenna also handles day-to-day clinical oversight. When the team needs a physician's input, Medical Director Brendan J. Carolan, MD, is available for consultation at both the Providence and Denver locations. Dr. Carolan is board-certified in internal medicine, pulmonary disease, and critical care medicine. Additionally, McKenna speaks Portuguese, allowing her to consult with Portuguese-speaking patients in their own language.
Simply Injectables RI offers a range of aesthetic services, including Botox, dermal fillers, Radiesse, Sculptra, Kybella, BBL Hero light therapy, microneedling, IPL photofacials, and medically supervised GLP-1 weight management. The clinic holds Allergan Top 250 Diamond provider status, a testament to its commitment to excellence in aesthetic medicine.
Richard Kratzenberg, the founder of Simply Injectables RI, has been working in cosmetic injectables since 2009 and opened the original Simply Injectables in Denver in 2014. The Providence clinic continues to expand its services and expertise, with McKenna's addition strengthening its position in the aesthetic and weight management market.
