Sibionics Unveils AI-Enhanced GS3 Continuous Glucose Monitoring System
At the recently concluded International Diabetes Federation (IDF), World Preventive Medicine Congress (WPR), Australian Diabetes Council (ADC), and Metabolic Diseases 2026 joint conference in Melbourne, SIBIONICS unveiled its latest innovation, the GS3, a state-of-the-art continuous glucose monitoring (CGM) system enhanced by artificial intelligence (AI). The unveiling marked a significant step forward in diabetes management, integrating cutting-edge technology with practical user feedback.
SIBIONICS, known for its pioneering work in brain-computer interfaces, including a retinal prosthesis for people with severe retinal degeneration, has now applied its expertise to the field of CGM. The GS3, a 14-day, 2.9 mm-thin device, promises to provide continuous, comfortable, and highly accurate glucose monitoring, significantly reducing the inconvenience faced by users. Professor David O'Neal of the University of Melbourne and deputy director of the Australian Centre for Accelerating Diabetes Innovations reviewed recent clinical data on CGM and ketone body monitoring. Professor Wei Qiang, deputy chief physician and director of the Department of Endocrinology and Metabolism at the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University, presented an integrated ecosystem managed by AI, combining reliable detection technologies, contextual considerations, and learning.
At the SIBIONICS stand, medical professionals and diabetes specialists interacted with the GS3, praising its compact size, light weight, comfort, and ease of installation. Certified diabetes educators emphasized the device's potential for AI-assisted peak glucose detection, simplified meal logging, and food analysis that links glycemic trends to meal contexts. These educators underscored the importance of personalization, clear carbohydrate intake estimates, and useful clinical event calendars, emphasizing that AI should enhance training and decision-making support without replacing professional care.
