Los Angeles, CA, United States, 27th Oct 2026 - The SEED School of Los Angeles County (SEED LA) has appointed Ray Witt as the head coach of its varsity boys basketball program, marking a new era for the Grizzlies. Witt, a former NCAA Division I player with more than 28 years of coaching experience, will lead the team into their first season in the CIF Southern Section's Mulholland League.
Witt arrives with a proven track record of transforming programs. At Valley Academy of Arts & Science, he guided the varsity team to a 9-0 undefeated league record and secured the first Valley League Championship in school history. At Heritage Christian School, Witt led a multi-year rebuild that produced the program's best record in over eight years and its first CIF-SS playoff appearance in over a decade.
Built for turnarounds, Witt's coaching philosophy is centered on skill development, academic monitoring, and college athletic placement. His appointment reinforces SEED LA's core values of a college-bound culture, high expectations, individual student support, and continuous improvement through data. Since its founding in August 2022, SEED LA has prepared its students for success in college and careers through a 24-hour learning environment that pairs rigorous coursework in computer science, engineering, and transportation infrastructure with comprehensive Student Life and Athletics programs.
Witt's background includes a diverse range of experiences. A former Division I player at the University of San Diego from 1989 to 1991, he has coached at the high school, collegiate, and youth levels. Since 1999, he has served as President and CEO of Rainmaker Management Consultants, advising professional athletes in the NBA, NFL, and MLB on branding, contracts, appearances, and post-career transitions. He is also a member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. since 1992, and holds USA Basketball Gold Coach certification from 2026.
Witt and his wife of 27 years, Angela, have four children, three of whom have competed as collegiate scholarship student-athletes in basketball and track and field. The Grizzlies are set to tip off their new chapter this season, with high expectations for success both on and off the court.
The SEED School of Los Angeles County, California's first public college-preparatory boarding school, aims to continue its legacy of academic excellence and athletic achievement under Witt's leadership.
