Saxon Capital Group Inc. has acquired 62 acres of residential property in Beulah, North Dakota, for the development of its first Saxon Solar Home Community. The company aims to address the growing housing shortage in the area, which is expected to see significant industrial growth due to major investments in energy, critical-mineral processing, and related manufacturing.

According to Beaver Brinkman, the Economic Development/Operations Director for the City of Beulah, the community will help meet the anticipated demand for housing as new workers and residents move into the area.

The 62-acre property, located in Mercer County, offers expansive views and ample space for a variety of housing options. Saxon's preliminary concept includes townhomes, six-family condominium buildings, affordable homes, and a primary focus on higher-priced, energy-efficient executive homes designed by the company. The community will also feature generously sized residential lots and a dedicated area for RV garages, catering to residents who need storage for boats, snowmobiles, recreational vehicles, and other equipment.

Saxon Capital Group plans to build its energy-efficient, first model home in spring 2027. The company intends to incorporate Energy Glass Solar™, a patented, optically clear solar-glass technology, into its homes. By using this technology, Saxon hopes to help residents reduce their electricity costs by an estimated 40% or more. However, the actual savings will depend on various factors, including the amount and placement of Energy Glass, each home's design and electricity use, seasonal light conditions, utility rates, and the final energy-system configuration.

The proposed community is in the early planning stage and will depend on financing, site, engineering, and infrastructure feasibility, utility access, any required zoning changes, permits, and other approvals. Saxon intends for all homes in the community to be energy efficient, with the use of Energy Glass Solar™ as a key feature. The company is also evaluating other energy-saving construction methods and features, with the final designs to be determined based on various factors.

Beulah and Mercer County are positioned for significant industrial growth, with major proposed investments in energy, critical-mineral processing, and related manufacturing. This growth is expected to create additional demand for housing, and Saxon Capital Group aims to play a crucial role in addressing this need. The company's plans were recently featured in the Beulah Beacon newspaper, highlighting its intention to build its energy-efficient, first model home in spring 2027.

The project's scope, features, and schedule may change, and there can be no assurance that it will be developed as currently envisioned. Saxon Capital Group believes its planned construction approach could shorten the time needed to complete a home once site development is finished and a foundation is in place. The company targets approximately three months from the start of home construction to move-in, subject to final designs, permits, materials, labor, inspections, weather, and other construction conditions. This is a planning estimate, not a guaranteed delivery date.

The proposed community is expected to help meet the demand for housing in the area, which Mercer County needs to handle the potential incoming population. According to a recent feasibility study, the county requires more than 300 housing units to accommodate the anticipated growth. Saxon Capital Group is working closely with local officials to address their housing needs and is committed to developing the community in a way that supports the area's industrial expansion.
