SafeSport sees 125% increase in visitors with new weekly updates

The U.S. Center for SafeSport has witnessed a significant 125% increase in new visitors to its Centralized Disciplinary Database (CDD) in the first month since launching weekly news updates, according to a recent press release.

Following the launch of these updates, which aim to better inform the public about individuals banned or restricted from participating in sport within the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Movement, the database has seen a notable rise in traffic. Between July 21 and August 20, 2026, SafeSport recorded more than 6,300 new visitors, a 125% increase compared to the same period in 2025.

"Checking SafeSport's database should be a routine practice for parents, employers, sport administrators, and youth-serving organizations," stated Olympian Benita Fitzgerald Mosley, CEO of SafeSport. "We are investing in nationwide amplification of this resource to increase transparency and foster safer sport environments."

The CDD, which is updated in real-time, lists adults banned or restricted from participating in sport within the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Movement, including elite competition and grassroots local affiliated organizations. SafeSport began issuing regular announcements about individuals added to the CDD and updates on arbitration outcomes on July 21.

"SafeSport imposes sanctions to hold bad actors accountable and mitigate risk to sport communities, but not all organizations are required to enforce our bans," said Jessica Perrill, General Counsel and Vice President of Response & Resolution. "Our database exposes SafeSport restrictions publicly so that parents and others can make informed decisions about sport programs."

The database is searchable by name, city, state, and sport. Local media have highlighted cases of individuals sanctioned or restricted by SafeSport, with articles appearing in outlets such as The Denver Post, San Antonio Express-News, The Daily Voice, The Progress, Hoodline, and Swim Swam. Additionally, TV stations KSNV NBC3, KLAS CBS 8, KBLR Telemundo, and Univision Noticias 41 have covered relevant cases.

SafeSport's mission is to ensure athletes within the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Movement are safe, supported, and strengthened. The organization establishes safety policies, investigates and resolves complaints of abuse and misconduct, delivers comprehensive abuse prevention education, and audits National Governing Bodies to ensure adherence to safety standards.

Launched in March 2017, the U.S. Center for SafeSport was created by the Protecting Young Victims from Sexual Abuse and Safe Sport Authorization Act of 2017, which furthered its independence and authority to hold individuals accountable. The Empowering Olympic, Paralympic, and Amateur Athletes Act of 2020 further strengthened SafeSport's independence and oversight functions, mandating minimum funding requirements.
