Rogers and Quebecor agree 12-year deal for French NHL games

TORONTO, Sept. 3, 2026, Rogers Communications and Quebecor have agreed to a new 12-year sublicensing deal for French-language national NHL games, effective with the 2026-27 season. The agreement will see Quebecor broadcast up to 350 regular-season NHL games annually, including 32 Montréal Canadiens regular-season games and all of their Stanley Cup Playoffs games, through the illico+ platform.
The expanded partnership builds on Quebecor's long-standing tradition of bringing NHL hockey to French-speaking audiences. Pierre Karl Péladeau, President and CEO of Quebecor, expressed pride in the deal, saying, "Quebecor's executive leadership and Board of Directors are proud to continue a tradition that brings together French-speaking Canadians around the NHL and the Montréal Canadiens." He also thanked the NHL and Rogers for recognizing the work they have done since 2014, noting that premium sports content remains a key driver for rallying audiences.
Tony Staffieri, President and CEO of Rogers, emphasized the importance of French-language coverage, stating, "Ensuring hockey fans have comprehensive French-language coverage of NHL games is a top priority for Rogers." He highlighted the strong partnership with TVA Sports, adding, "We look forward to continuing to work together to deliver more NHL games to more French-speaking Quebecers and Canadians."
Gary Bettman, NHL Commissioner, echoed the sentiment, saying, "Our expanded partnership with Rogers and Quebecor reflects our shared commitment to serving fans and growing the game, ensuring that hockey’s biggest moments are available to all audiences."
This agreement comes after Rogers and the NHL announced a 12-year media rights deal for all platforms in Canada, spanning from the 2026-27 to 2037-38 seasons. The new deal will provide French-speaking Canadians with even more access to Canadiens games, including 10 more regular-season games compared to the previous agreement, as well as key playoff series.
