Replit Opens First International Office in London

Replit, the agentic software creation platform, has taken its expansion efforts to Europe by opening its first international office in London. The move comes as the company celebrates rapid growth and increased demand from individuals, small businesses, and enterprises worldwide.
At a ribbon-cutting ceremony, Replit was joined by Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London, marking the company’s first outpost outside the United States. Founded in 2016, Replit now boasts more than 60 million users globally, with users present at 85% of the Fortune 500 companies. The company’s recent expansion includes a collaboration with OpenAI on its Free Tier mode, continued investment in enterprise-grade security, and the launch of Replit Design, all aimed at broadening the platform's reach.
Replit plans to use London as the hub for its European operations, expecting to double its headcount and investment in the coming year. The company’s presence in the UK is bolstered by partnerships with multinational firms such as PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), Ernst & Young, Mercedes-Benz Group, TrustPilot, and Hg. On the U.S. side, Replit serves customers like Accenture, Visa, and Zillow.
Amjad Masad, co-founder and CEO of Replit, emphasized the company’s mission to empower anyone to build applications without needing to learn how to code. "Demand for Replit has been growing exponentially," Masad said. "We are thrilled to be here in London to serve our European base and collaborate with the UK Government in upskilling people to give them the tools they need to advance their job potential."
Mayor Sadiq Khan welcomed Replit to London, highlighting the city's role as a global technology hub. "As a world-leading city for technology, education, and innovation, London has a wealth of talent and a diverse skills base," said Khan. "Replit choosing to base themselves here is a huge vote of confidence in London as we continue to build a better, more prosperous city for everyone."
In addition to its business expansion, Replit has partnered with The Lord Mayor’s Appeal Charity (TLMA) to provide upskilling for young Londoners not in education, employment, or training (NEET). Together, they plan to pilot a four-week course for 100 young people from disadvantaged and underrepresented backgrounds, giving them vital coding skills and access to job opportunities.
Kanishka Narayan, the UK Minister for AI, also welcomed the company, noting the importance of AI in the country's technological landscape. "AI promises to be the most transformative technology we will see in generations, with a vast impact across industries and our society," Narayan stated. "As a country, we are at the forefront of AI advances, and we will continue to lead as we embrace rapidly growing AI companies like Replit into our ecosystem."
Replit’s platform brings together design, creation, development, databases, deployment, security, and enterprise controls into one environment. This integration allows organizations to expand their pool of app builders while maintaining the governance required at an enterprise scale. The company is headquartered in San Francisco, California, and has partnerships with major players in the tech industry, including Google, Microsoft, Stripe, and Slack.
