RenX Enterprises receives Microtec UTM 1200 Turbo Mill
RenX Enterprises Corp., a company focused on biomass recycling and engineered growing media, has taken delivery of its Microtec UTM 1200 Turbo Mill, marking a significant step toward producing growing media locally in Florida. The mill has arrived at the company's 80+ acre, FDEP-permitted organics processing facility in Myakka City, Florida, and is expected to be commissioned in the coming weeks.
Photographs of the mill in its shipping container have been posted on the company's media page, providing a visual confirmation of the machine's arrival. The UTM 1200 is manufactured by Microtec in Bobingen, Germany, and RenX operates the system under license.
According to RenX, the mill will enable the company to produce growing media where it is used, significantly reducing the reliance on imported materials. "Peat is mined and imported from Canada, while bark and topsoil travel comparable distances," explained David Villarreal, Chief Executive Officer of RenX Enterprises. "This mill allows us to make it here, out of what we are already paid to collect here, and put it on our own trucks."
The company's Myakka City site is a permitted organics processing facility that integrates advanced milling and material-processing technology. RenX plans to collect organic material across its Florida service area, mill it at the site, and deliver it to customers in the same region using its own trucks. This approach, combined with local feedstock and owned logistics, gives RenX a cost position that long-haul freight cannot easily match.
"This mill is a significant milestone in our journey to provide locally produced growing media," Villarreal added. "A Florida grower should not have to buy material that was mined in another country and hauled a thousand miles to get here."
RenX intends to provide further updates as the installation and commissioning processes advance. The company believes that by optimizing products for regional feedstocks and customer requirements, it can shorten supply chains, enhance quality control, and improve unit economics while serving higher-value end markets.
