MARYSVILLE, Pa. and ROCHESTER, N.Y., Oct. 29, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Publius Legal Inc., a Pennsylvania-based legal technology startup, has successfully migrated its AI-powered legal platform to Amazon Web Services (AWS), eliminating the need for always-on GPU infrastructure and significantly reducing costs. The move, facilitated by Innovative Solutions, an AWS Premier Tier Services Partner, has positioned Publius to scale its platform more efficiently and focus on product innovation.
Publius Legal Inc., founded by Ed Kabatsky, serves small law firms and solo practitioners. The company's platform leverages advanced AI to provide case intelligence, enabling legal professionals to handle complex cases more effectively. The migration to AWS has enabled Publius to reduce infrastructure costs by paying for cloud compute only when needed, thereby eliminating the fixed cost of unused GPU hardware.
Innovative Solutions designed and deployed a two-tier GPU inference architecture on AWS, separating real-time and batch workloads. A Kubernetes-based stack built on Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (Amazon EKS) serves real-time chat through vLLM, while a dedicated GPU Extractor tier handles OCR and batch document processing. KEDA and Karpenter handle event-driven and node-level autoscaling, allowing the platform to expand under load and scale down to zero when idle.
The migration process followed Innovative Solutions' AWS-centric methodology, divided into three phases: an assessment, a proof of concept, and mobilization. This structured approach ensured a smooth transition from Publius' previous infrastructure to a fully deployed, production-ready platform.
The engagement culminated in a successful hands-on demonstration and client handoff in mid-October 2026. The deliverables include a fully deployed cluster, Tailscale-based private networking for secure API access, embeddings and batch processing pipelines, a production chat endpoint served under the client's existing "Publius AI" assistant name, complete API documentation for the Publius frontend team, and a consolidated operations runbook.
The partnership is significant for Pennsylvania's growing technology economy. As state leaders weigh the future of AI and data center development, Publius' migration demonstrates a model of AI infrastructure that is efficient by design, consuming compute resources only when customers need them. Publius' work with Innovative Solutions reflects its broader commitment to economic development in Perry County and across Pennsylvania, where the company has already hired staff in Ardmore and plans to continue growing its team.
