PROTEOR Launches Unleashed Book Featuring Personal Stories

PROTEOR, a global leader in prosthetic and orthotic solutions, has launched a new book titled "Unleashed: Real Stories of Strength, Independence, and Community." The publication, which includes 20 personal stories, aims to provide an honest and diverse look into the lives of individuals with limb loss and limb difference.

Unleashed was created by PROTEOR USA to give people the chance to share their experiences and perspectives in their own words. "Unleashed started with a very simple idea: give people the opportunity to tell their stories and make sure we are listening," said Sharon Gwynn, Manager of Community Impact & Strategic Communications at PROTEOR USA. "But through this process, it became clear that the responsibility goes beyond simply sharing those voices. If we want to truly serve this community, we need to be present in it, learn from it, and create opportunities for people to help shape what comes next."

The book is part of PROTEOR’s broader Community Impact strategy, which aims to better understand the needs and gaps within the broader O&P (Orthotic and Prosthetic) community. The company is engaging with various stakeholders, including individuals with limb loss and limb difference, caregivers, clinicians, rehabilitation professionals, and community organizations, to identify opportunities for meaningful contributions.

"Unleashed is an early step in our commitment to the O&P community," Gwynn explained. "Our plans for 2027 are intentionally being shaped by what we are hearing now. We have ambitious plans to deepen PROTEOR's presence and participation within the community, but we also recognize that impact starts with listening. We want the people we serve and the professionals and organizations supporting them to have a voice in determining where we can make the greatest difference."

The book will be introduced at the PROTEOR booth (313) during the 2026 AOPA National Assembly in Las Vegas, with additional availability through Amazon and BookBaby online booksellers. "Unleashed: Real Stories of Strength, Independence, and Community" is a collection of 20 personal stories that highlight the experiences, perspectives, and lives of individuals within the limb loss and limb difference community, providing a platform for authentic voices and encouraging greater connection and understanding throughout the broader community.
