ENGLEWOOD, N.J., Oct. 22, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- Price Reporter, a GSA consulting and technology firm, has released its 2026 Performance and Capability Report, revealing significant shifts in how federal and state, local, and education (SLED) agencies are procuring goods and services. The report, which analyzes over $1 billion in federal and SLED orders processed through the Price Reporter order management system, highlights a growing trend where federal suppliers are increasingly selling directly through their own storefronts.

According to the report, about 5% of federal and SLED order volume now arrives through open-market and client-owned channels, with some leading clients seeing that share approach 50%. This shift underscores a strategic move by suppliers to control the purchasing experience and potentially enhance customer satisfaction and loyalty.

The report also provides insights into government buying patterns. Approximately 60% of orders settle by credit card at the moment of purchase, with the remaining 40% arriving on NET30 terms, by wire, or by check across 10 supported payment gateways. The average GSA Advantage micro-purchase order through the system is $536, which is higher than the $326 average order on the GSA Commercial Platforms Program in fiscal year 2025.

Price Reporter's data further reveals that August and September carry more than 25% of annual dollar volume, a pattern that has held every year for the past five years. This trend is attributed to agencies obligating funds before the September 30 fiscal year-end. Supplier-owned storefronts, including custom sites, Shopify stores, and government portal front ends, average about 5% of client volume, with some clients near 50%.

The firm's report also highlights its own achievements, noting that it has secured 500+ GSA contracts, managed 1,500+ contracts, and processed more than 2.5 million federal orders through its Order Management System. Price Reporter's Market Intelligence Platform has been delivering item-level GSA pricing data to contractors since 2009.

In terms of contract awards, Price Reporter's clients have won more than 40 IDIQ contracts and over 20 BPAs annually, with a success rate of about one award every seven to ten days. The firm has also secured positions on major contracts, including the $1.3 billion GSA MRFS2 BPA and the $2.3 billion GSA OS5 Requisition Channel BPA. Price Reporter currently has 1,000 company clients, with a mix of large and small businesses, including eight Fortune 500 companies.

The report concludes that the work protecting a quarter of the year's federal business happens in the spring, emphasizing the importance of early planning and execution. Price Reporter's data underscores the evolving landscape of federal procurement, where suppliers are increasingly leveraging their own channels to streamline the purchasing process and enhance their market presence.
