Pratt & Whitney invests $25 million to expand Polish factory

RTX's Pratt & Whitney division is investing $25 million to expand its manufacturing facility in Niepołomice, Poland, a move expected to add more than 120 jobs and increase production capacity for commercial and military engine components.

The expansion, set to be operational by 2028, will bolster Pratt & Whitney's current facility, which already produces precision components for various engine types, including the Pratt & Whitney GTF engine for commercial passenger aircraft, the PW800 for business jets, and the F135 for F-35 Lightning II fighter aircraft.

"Dariusz Stopa, general manager of Pratt & Whitney in Niepołomice, stated that Poland plays a vital role in the company's global engine production, with this year's $125 million investment reinforcing the commitment. 'Our employees in Niepołomice manufacture high-precision engine components that support commercial and military aircraft worldwide,' Stopa explained. 'Growing this team will increase our ability to meet global demand for advanced aircraft engines.'"

The Niepołomice site's expansion is part of a broader strategy by Pratt & Whitney, which has also recently announced a $100 million investment in its Rzeszow facility. The Rzeszow site is increasing its production capacity and adding advanced capabilities for processing isothermally forged parts for the GTF, F135, and F100 engines.

Poland is a significant investment and employment hub for RTX outside the United States, with over 9,500 employees across its Collins Aerospace, Pratt & Whitney, and Raytheon businesses in the country. The Niepołomice expansion is in line with Pratt & Whitney's advanced manufacturing and technology development capabilities, which include the production of complex engine components such as the GTF fan drive gear system, F100 static structures, and critical F135 parts.

The investment is supported by the Polish government through the Polish Investment Zone Programme. This expansion underscores RTX's commitment to strengthening its global presence and meeting the growing demand for advanced aircraft engines and systems.
