Pictor Labs' ClearStain™ Integrated into Techcyte Fusion AP for Tissue Analysis

News related to:Pictor Labs · 1 min read

Pictor Labs has expanded its suite of tissue intelligence technologies by integrating its ClearStain™ Virtual H&E feature into Techcyte Fusion AP, a platform designed to streamline molecular tissue selection for research purposes. This integration allows research teams to review tissue morphology and select regions for molecular analysis using a virtual H&E image of the exact section that will be used for extraction, thereby preserving the physical section for downstream work.

Traditionally, research teams mark tumor regions on an H&E slide, then extract tissue from a separate unstained sample for molecular testing. This process can lead to discrepancies in tumor boundaries due to the different sections of the tissue block. ClearStain™ uses Pictor Labs’ proprietary algorithm to generate a virtual H&E image from a brightfield scan of an unstained tissue section, ensuring that the pathologist can annotate the exact tissue that goes to extraction. This image remains available for review alongside chemically stained slides.

Users can request ClearStain™ from a Fusion AP case. Fusion sends the unstained slide image to Pictor Labs for processing and returns the virtual H&E to the same case, associated with the corresponding tissue block. The virtual H&E is clearly labeled as such and available for review alongside chemically stained slides. ClearStain™ is also available separately through secure Cloud or On-Prem deployment.

The integration of ClearStain™ into Techcyte Fusion AP is set to be showcased at Pathology Visions 2026, taking place from October 16 to 18 in San Diego. Visitors can see the ClearStain™ workflow at Techcyte booth 410. ClearStain™ is for Research Use Only and is not for use in diagnostic procedures. Techcyte Fusion AP is for Research Use Only in the United States and is not for diagnostic use.

This integration aims to enhance the accuracy and efficiency of tissue selection for molecular analysis, ensuring that the exact regions of interest are identified and preserved for further study.
