PensionBee partners with T. Rowe Price for small balance IRA rollovers

NEW YORK, Sept. 01, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- PensionBee, a leading online retirement provider, has partnered with T. Rowe Price to expand access to its Automatic Rollover IRA solution. Effective immediately, eligible T. Rowe Price retirement plan clients can designate PensionBee as their preferred force-out provider for small balances below the $7,000 threshold.

According to Helene O'Brien, Vice President of Employer Partnerships at PensionBee, the partnership addresses a critical gap in the retirement landscape. "Plan sponsors process billions in small balance rollovers, but often have little oversight into where these accounts end up or what happens to the balances following the force-out," said O'Brien. "Given the steady growth of forgotten retirement accounts, it's increasingly important for administrators to prioritize their force-out process and feel good about their force-out partner."

Small balances under $7,000 represent a rapidly growing share of the nearly $2 trillion of left-behind 401(k) wealth. Projections show that by 2030, over $43 billion is expected to sit in Safe Harbor IRAs, nearly double the $22 billion Americans left behind in 2022. To manage the influx of left-behind accounts, employers now force out roughly $5 billion in sub-$7,000 balances annually, often into low-growth, high-fee accounts.

Wendy Brown, Vice President and Senior Offer Manager at T. Rowe Price, emphasized the importance of the partnership. "The addition of PensionBee's Automatic Rollover IRA gives eligible clients another option to consider when evaluating their force-out provider," said Brown. "The digital experience provides clients with information to help compare available providers and determine which option best aligns with their plan’s needs."

For T. Rowe Price's Core Market clients, the force-out process is now streamlined through a portal where administrators can review and select force-out providers. The digital interface makes it easier to evaluate existing relationships and select an option that aligns with current organizational goals.

PensionBee’s offering includes free human support, an award-winning digital app with planning tools, and competitive yields that support growth even for accounts not under active management. PensionBee, which manages over $11 billion in assets and serves nearly 330,000 customers globally, will become available to large institutional clients in 2027.

The partnership underscores PensionBee's commitment to helping people easily consolidate, manage, and take control of their retirement savings. The company offers Traditional, Roth, SEP, and Safe Harbor IRAs with ETF-backed portfolios from State Street Investment Management, one of the world’s largest asset managers.

"We are excited to partner with T. Rowe Price to offer our services to their clients," said O'Brien. "Our goal is to provide a better outcome for small balance rollovers, ensuring that former participants have access to simple, transparent, and accessible retirement solutions."
