The release also included updates to the Office JavaScript API, enhancing its capabilities for working with forms, drawings, annotations, charts, and tables. Additionally, the Plugins and Macros API received updates, including the ability to prevent specific plugins from loading during editor initialization, logging plugin command execution for debugging, and managing cursor control over form fields.

In May 2026, API 9.4 further expanded document automation capabilities. This update introduced a MergeDocuments method, allowing developers to combine multiple documents seamlessly. It also included support for creating and managing signature forms, detecting form state, and handling role and user information in form-filling events.
