In a bid to raise awareness and funds for pediatric cancer research, the National Pediatric Cancer Foundation (NPCF) has launched Pizza for Good, a nationwide campaign during Childhood Cancer Awareness Month. The initiative aims to bring the pizza community together to support children battling cancer.

The campaign, which runs through September, involves a broad spectrum of pizza industry players, from local pizzerias and suppliers to technology companies and influencers. Pizza Bib, a leading industry partner, has played a pivotal role in bringing the inaugural campaign to life. They created and donated custom Pizza for Good pizza boxes to help spread awareness.

"Pizzerias across the country will support Pizza for Good by allowing customers to round up their purchases at the register," said Dawn Zachman, Chief Growth & Impact Officer at NPCF. "Other partners are creating unique ways to engage pizza lovers and support pediatric cancer research."

Several notable pizzerias have already signed on, including Jay Luigi in Florida, The Corner Crust Pizza & Brew in North Carolina, Nevada Pizza Kitchen in Nevada, Peace Love and Pizza in Georgia, White Rabbit Gastropub in Maryland, Rad Pies Taproom in Maryland, Spark Pizza in Washington, Little Italy Ristorante in Ohio, and Professor Pizza in Illinois.

Industry leaders are also stepping up. Greco & Sons, a campaign sponsor, is promoting round-up donations through participating restaurants. Forkfluence is mobilizing food influencers to spread the message, while DeIorio's is printing the Pizza for Good campaign message on 40,000 cases of pizza dough. Scott's Pizza Tours is asking guests to donate $1 upon booking and for every slice eaten during September tours. Orlando Foods is donating $1 from every e-commerce bag of pizza flour sold during the month.

"Pizza brings people together, and Pizza for Good gives our industry an opportunity to come together for something much bigger than pizza," said Jamie Heal, CEO of Pizza Bib. "When we learned about NPCF's vision, we knew we wanted to be the first to step up. This is just the beginning. Our goal is to help this campaign grow significantly over the next five years and inspire more pizzerias, suppliers, partners, and pizza lovers to join us."

Statistics show that 43 children in the United States are diagnosed with cancer each day. Pizza for Good aims to transform the simple act of ordering a pizza into a meaningful way to support these children and their families.

"Every day, 43 families face the terrifying reality of a child's cancer diagnosis," Zachman added. "Pizza for Good gives us an opportunity to make a real difference by funding research that can give children a better chance at a healthier future."

The National Pediatric Cancer Foundation has a track record of funding research to develop less toxic, more effective treatments for pediatric cancer. Since 1990, the foundation has collaborated with leading hospitals and research institutions nationwide to accelerate the discovery of better therapies for children.
