LISBON, Portugal, Oct. 28, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- At Meridian 2026 in Lisbon, Movantis announced the integration of the Stellar network into its multi-rail infrastructure. This move aims to expand the company’s cross-border payments capabilities, starting with USDC settlement for transactions from the United States to El Salvador.
Movantis, a unified financial infrastructure platform, has been operating for over two decades, supporting more than 200 million annual transactions and over 90,000 payout locations. The Stellar network adds an additional blockchain rail to Movantis’s architecture, allowing for faster digital settlement. While traditional banking infrastructure, local payment systems, and digital settlement rails each play a role, the Stellar network provides an efficient way to settle transactions, especially for the U.S.-to-El Salvador corridor.
For businesses and end users, the blockchain layer remains behind the scenes. Movantis plans to use USDC on the Stellar network as the settlement leg, with local partners supporting conversion and last-mile payout. As a dollarized economy, El Salvador is a natural starting point. Movantis’s regulated subsidiaries will facilitate the process, ensuring that value settles in USDC and is paid out to recipients in US dollars, with no additional currency exposure.
The integration is designed to work in both directions. Businesses operating on the Stellar network will be able to reach recipients in Latin America through Movantis, settling in stablecoins and paying out locally. Remittance companies, fintechs, and wallets will be able to access the corridor through the same Movantis integration they already use for other markets.
Jose Fernandez da Ponte, President and Chief Growth Officer at the Stellar Development Foundation, highlighted the complementary nature of the integration.
For more than 20 years, Movantis has built local partnerships and payout networks to make cross-border payments work across the Americas. Today, its network moves more than $60 billion a year across over 130 countries, with Movantis connecting global financial ecosystems with local market access. The Stellar network now plugs into this foundation, supporting additional B2B and consumer flows, including for businesses in Europe, Asia, and across Latin America that want to operate in the region through a single integration.
The goal is not to replace existing rails but to add another settlement option to Movantis’s multi-rail infrastructure. Through Institutional Stablecoin Settlement, companies can collect, convert, settle, and pay out across Latin America, in fiat or stablecoin, with one integration.
