MiMedia Holdings Inc. has entered into a global distribution agreement with Africell, a leading African telecommunications carrier, to deliver MiMedia’s personal cloud services to consumers across all of Africell’s African markets. The agreement, which is set to run for multiple years, aims to integrate MiMedia’s comprehensive consumer cloud platform into Africell’s existing applications, creating a more robust digital ecosystem for Africell’s subscribers.

Founded in 2001, Africell serves over 15 million subscribers in The Gambia, Angola, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Sierra Leone. The company has positioned itself as a digital-first challenger in the African telecommunications market, expanding beyond traditional services like voice, data, and SMS to offer enhanced digital and financial experiences. Most recently, Africell launched Afrimoney, a mobile money service integrated into its redesigned MyAfricell mobile application, further solidifying its commitment to digital innovation.

Under the terms of the distribution agreement, Africell will private-label MiMedia’s consumer cloud platform. This includes software modules designed for integration within Africell’s existing applications, a full-featured standalone consumer cloud mobile application, and enhanced mobile advertising capabilities. The integration is expected to provide Africell’s subscribers with a secure, convenient, and accessible way to manage and access their personal content, including photos, videos, and contacts.

For MiMedia, the partnership represents a significant expansion in its African market presence. Chris Giordano, CEO of MiMedia, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “We are thrilled to partner with a telecom market leader like Africell and support its continued transformation into a leading digital services provider across Africa. Africell understands the importance of compelling digital experiences in customer satisfaction, retention, and long-term subscriber value. MiMedia’s consumer cloud platform is designed to complement that strategy by giving subscribers a unique and simple way to protect, manage, access, and enjoy their most important digital content.”

Giordano further elaborated, “This Agreement marks another recently signed partnership for the Company, deepens MiMedia’s presence in the rapidly growing African digital market, and represents the most expansive application of our platform in a mobile operator partnership to date. We are excited about the growing number of partnership opportunities that we see in our pipeline.”

Nadia Moati, Chief Commercial Officer of Africell, echoed the excitement, noting, “We are excited to offer our consumers MiMedia’s consumer cloud solution. MiMedia’s capabilities fit our business strategy well, and we look forward to working with them to get this service offering to market as soon as possible.”

The agreement is part of Africell’s broader strategy to offer a wide range of digital services to its subscribers, enhancing customer engagement and retention. The integration of MiMedia’s platform is expected to increase digital engagement, strengthen customer loyalty, and generate incremental recurring, high-margin revenue for Africell’s growing portfolio of digital services.

With the agreement in place, both companies are optimistic about the potential for mutual growth and innovation in the African telecommunications landscape. As MiMedia’s platform is rolled out across Africell’s markets, the companies anticipate a positive impact on subscriber experience and overall digital ecosystem development.
