MicroVision Semiconductor Selected for Advanced Photonics Project

MicroVision Semiconductor, a subsidiary of MicroVision Inc., has been chosen to design a custom semiconductor solution for an advanced photonics application. The project, a collaboration between MicroVision Semiconductor and a prime government contractor, leverages the prime contractor's expertise in polarization technology and photonics, combined with MicroVision Semiconductor's analog and mixed-signal integrated circuit design capabilities. Specifically, the project involves designing a liquid crystal on silicon (LCoS) spatial light modulator chip.
The engagement underscores MicroVision's ability to extend its semiconductor expertise beyond its core lidar and perception markets. "MicroVision Semiconductor was created to translate decades of specialized semiconductor engineering expertise into a commercial capability that can serve customers across a range of advanced technology markets," said Glen DeVos, CEO of MicroVision Inc. "This LCoS project is a strong example of that strategy in action."
Based in Colorado Springs, Colorado, MicroVision Semiconductor focuses on custom analog and mixed-signal integrated circuit development for applications requiring high performance, precision, power efficiency, and reliability. The project aligns with MicroVision's broader strategy to expand the markets served by its core technology and engineering capabilities. While the company continues to advance its lidar and perception portfolio across industrial, security, and defense, as well as automotive markets, the new semiconductor work represents an additional avenue for generating value from the engineering expertise within the organization.
