Metriport, a healthcare data infrastructure company, has taken a significant step toward direct participation in the national Trusted Exchange Framework and Common Agreement (TEFCA) framework. The company was accepted as a Candidate Qualified Health Information Network (QHIN) by The Sequoia Project, as the Recognized Coordinating Entity (RCE) for TEFCA.

This milestone marks Metriport's commitment to operating at the foundational layer of healthcare data exchange. The company is already a Carequality Implementer, a CommonWell Service Adopter, and an eHealth Exchange Participant, enabling its healthcare organization customers to access data across major national exchange networks.

Colin Elsinga, the Chief Operating Officer and co-founder of Metriport, stated, "Real interoperability in healthcare means better information for providers, which translates to better care for patients. That's the standard we hold ourselves to as we grow."

The next phase for Metriport involves pre-production testing and the completion of the required project plan. If designated as a QHIN, Metriport would participate directly in TEFCA's nationwide framework, providing customers with more direct access to national exchange while giving Metriport a voice in how the framework evolves within the governing bodies.

Dima Goncharov, the CEO and co-founder of Metriport, added, "Closing the gap between scientific breakthroughs and the data layer is the reason Metriport exists. That work just took a real step forward, with Metriport accepted as a Candidate QHIN. It's an important milestone in our work to give providers the infrastructure they need to deliver the next generation of care."

Metriport's platform brings together patient records from across the healthcare ecosystem, standardizes, deduplicates, and enriches them for clinicians at the point of care. The company serves a diverse range of customers, including large-scale providers like Amazon One Medical and Color Health, as well as EHR platforms, value-based care organizations, specialty clinics, and independent practices.

Founded in 2022, Metriport has raised $28.4 million to date from investors including Matrix, ARTIS, and Y Combinator. The company's mission is to provide real-time patient context to care teams and their AI agents, transforming healthcare delivery through advanced data infrastructure.
