AlltecPro LLC and Insync Municipal Systems have partnered to deploy a local AI platform in the City of New Brunswick, New Jersey. The system, known as Isermo Pulse, is designed to provide real-time transcription, captioning, and multilingual translation during municipal meetings, enhancing accessibility and engagement for residents.
The installation, which includes an Isermo Pulse local AI appliance and software version 2.5, is being implemented in the Council Chambers of New Brunswick. The platform integrates with the existing microphone and audio system infrastructure, ensuring that audio from the meeting is processed locally. This setup allows for live captions and translations to be displayed on connected displays, making it easier for residents to follow discussions in real time.
According to Jon Miller, Product Manager for AlltecPro, the deployment is part of a broader effort to improve communication and accessibility in municipal settings.
The system supports Spanish and more than 50 additional languages, addressing the multilingual needs of New Brunswick's diverse population. It also includes features such as speaker identification and on-the-fly multilingual translation, which can assist residents who are deaf or hard of hearing by providing a real-time visual representation of spoken proceedings.
The partnership between AlltecPro and Insync Municipal Systems aims to help municipalities implement modern communication technology while minimizing disruption to existing council chambers and public meeting infrastructure. "The collaboration between Insync and AlltecPro allows us to address both sides of that equation, the municipal environment and the emerging capabilities of local AI. New Brunswick is a strong example of how this technology can be incorporated into an existing meeting space to improve communication for the community."
The Isermo Pulse platform is designed to work with existing meeting-room audio and display systems, providing transcription, translation, and captioning without requiring continuous transmission of meeting audio to a third-party cloud AI platform. This local processing can be particularly attractive for government organizations and other institutions where control over meeting data, network independence, and predictable system operation are important considerations.
AlltecPro and Insync Municipal Systems are continuing to explore applications for Isermo in municipal government and other public-facing environments. Potential applications include city and town council meetings, planning and zoning meetings, public hearings, school board meetings, training sessions, conferences, houses of worship, and other environments where real-time multilingual communication and accessibility are important.
