Litum Launches PathAware IQ for Forklift Safety Intelligence

Litum, a provider of location-aware safety and operational intelligence, has expanded its PathAware technology to offer a comprehensive forklift safety intelligence platform. The new PathAware IQ and PathAware IQ+ systems transform collision warnings into actionable safety data, providing organizations with deeper insights into forklift operations and safety.

PathAware IQ, the first tier of the new platform, enhances the original collision warning system by capturing safety events across the fleet. It generates visual dashboards that highlight recurring risks, near misses, operators, vehicles, areas, and shifts. This allows safety teams to identify patterns, focus training where it is needed, and address hazards before they escalate into incidents. Unlike traditional systems that rely heavily on reported incidents, PathAware IQ provides visibility into the thousands of interactions and near misses that occur before an accident.

PathAware IQ+ builds on this intelligence by adding digital pre-operation inspections and utilization reporting. It connects what happens around the forklift to how the fleet is utilized, providing a more comprehensive view of forklift operations. This tier enables organizations to enforce inspection completion, report defects immediately, and retain records for follow-up and audits. It also captures utilization metrics, including active time, idle time, engine-on time, load ratio, and usage patterns, helping operations teams make informed decisions about fleet management.

The new PathAware systems are designed to be retrofit and vehicle-based, working across mixed forklift brands and models, whether leased or owned. They do not require cameras, mandatory pedestrian wearables, or a full facility-wide Real-Time Location System (RTLS) deployment. The Onboard Hub, an in-cab device, connects the operator, forklift, and safety workflow, delivering real-time collision warnings and operator authentication, access control, and digital inspections.

PathAware Core, PathAware IQ, and PathAware IQ+ are available on a per-vehicle subscription basis. The technology combines AI-enhanced sensing and Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology directly on the forklift, enabling detection of pedestrians, vehicles, and obstacles without cameras or mandatory pedestrian wearables. This makes it a practical solution for organizations looking to enhance forklift safety and operational intelligence without the need for extensive infrastructure investments.
