Lexus has announced the launch of the 2027 NX, a compact crossover that will now be 100% electrified, with the option for customers to choose between a Hybrid Electric Vehicle (HEV) or a Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle (PHEV). This update marks a significant shift for the NX, which has been a popular choice among luxury car buyers since its debut in 2014.
The 2027 NX lineup will include four grade choices for both powertrain options: Premium, Premium+, F SPORT, and Luxury. A newly developed Lithium-ion battery, offering up to 40 miles of electric range on select grades, is a key feature of the PHEV models. Additionally, all PHEV grades come equipped with DC fast charging capability and a Power Charge Port Door.
Lexus has also improved the driving dynamics of the new NX, incorporating updates to the suspension, steering system, accelerator, braking system, and chassis rigidity. These enhancements contribute to a more responsive and comfortable driving experience. The Lexus Interface, featuring a 14-inch touchscreen display, is now standard across all grades, serving as the central hub for navigation, entertainment, vehicle information, and connected technologies.
The new NX also includes the Sensory Concierge feature on Luxury and F SPORT grades, which personalizes the cabin experience through a combination of lighting, sound, and fragrance. Safety remains a priority, with the inclusion of the advanced Lexus Safety System+ 4.0, which provides enhanced detection capabilities and broader situational awareness.
Lexus engineers have focused on refining the vehicle's core fundamentals, including increased body rigidity and the placement of major mass components. These changes not only enhance the sporty dynamic nature and ride comfort but also improve overall handling and stability. The new E-Four electronic all-wheel-drive system, with revised rear motor control, ensures continuous AWD operation, contributing to a more stable and confidence-inspiring driving experience.
The new NX boasts a sleeker, more dynamic exterior design, while the interior offers a spacious and comfortable cabin. Available in nine exterior colors, including two new shades, Shaded Ivy and Incognito, the NX maintains its sporty form and side silhouette. Inside, the cabin features a horizontal layout that aligns the 12.3-inch digital meter with the 14-inch touchscreen display, creating a modern and intuitive environment.
These improvements underscore Lexus's commitment to advancing hybrid and plug-in performance while delivering a refined and luxurious driving experience. The 2027 NX is expected to be available globally by the end of 2026, marking a pivotal moment in the evolution of Lexus's compact crossover lineup.
