Users can designate a safety contact to receive notifications when they arrive home safely. Additionally, a Group Soundtrack feature allows the host to select an Apple Music playlist for the trip, ensuring everyone can enjoy music together.

One of the app's standout features is its ability to merge and separate vehicles on the map based on the group's movements. This allows for real-time coordination and communication, such as through the Chirp hold-to-talk voice messaging feature. Drivers can also notify the group about stops for fuel, flat tires, or road hazards, ensuring everyone is informed of any issues.

Caravan also extends beyond the phone, with CarPlay providing essential trip information and controls while on the road, and Apple Watch offering key trip functions on the wrist. Apple TV can be used to watch the journey unfold on a television, making the trip a shared experience for friends and family members who may not be directly involved in the trip.

The app is free to download from the App Store for iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, and Apple TV, with CarPlay integration for compatible vehicles. Free accounts can host trips with up to three participants, including the host. Caravan Pro is available for $4.99 per month or $47.99 per year and expands hosting capacity to 20 participants, including the host, while adding additional trip, Garage, location, and customization features.

Caravan also offers tools for automotive clubs, rally organizers, events, and businesses. The Android version is currently in development.
