WESTMINSTER, Colo., Sep 22, 2026 /CourierPR/ -- The Industry Group (TIG) and the Kiosk Manufacturer Association (KMA) met with the U.S. Access Board on September 15 to discuss how accessibility must evolve as customer transactions increasingly span a variety of devices, including kiosks, touchscreens, payment terminals, mobile phones, QR codes, voice interfaces, AI systems, identity verification, and human support. The meeting underscored the importance of ensuring that customers can independently and privately complete transactions, regardless of the device they use.

During the meeting, the TIG/KMA Accessibility Committee highlighted the need for accessibility to follow the transaction, not just the device.

The discussion at the meeting covered a range of topics, including EV charging, self-service retail, smart vending, lockers, parking, drive-thru systems, payment workflows, and government-service procedures. The committee also addressed the role of conversational AI, voice, gesture, mobile apps, QR codes, and biometrics in expanding access, but stressed that these technologies should not be the only route a customer can use to complete a transaction.

In addition to the Access Board meeting, TIG and KMA have also been working on updating their supporter, trade-show, targeted-email, and market-intelligence programs for companies planning initiatives in 2027. For Fall 2026, these programs will be expanded into a year-round intelligence offering, featuring implementation analysis, quarterly updates, and analyst access. TIG and KMA will also participate in the Automated Retail & Kiosk Innovation Show (ARKI) on December 14-16, 2026, at Loews Miami Beach. The event covers kiosks, smart vending, self-checkout, payments, digital signage, AI, and unattended retail. TIG/KMA will exhibit at booth 39, and qualified end users may use code INDUSTRY20 for 20% off the stated registration rate.
